Christmas Time

Last countdown until Heiliger Abend. I can’t really say why, but the whole.. miracle spirit of Christmas has sort of left the building. The only thing I’m looking forward to are the Christmas markets and their punch, even though they’ve gone ridiculously expensive (€5 for a cup including a deposit). And the little shops.. well, they do have nice little trinklets, but either they’re ridiculously expensive as well or.. well. That’s the problem most of the time, they’re just plain expensive. Too expensive for a poor student like me.

But to get back on topic, yes, the Christmas spirit is not enlightening me anymore and I have little to look forward to around Christmas. People go stir crazy (”I want that cell phone before Christmas! Although I call about one month ago to inquire about it and told you I’d call back soon! Which didn’t happen until today! And because I have a fancy title in front of my name I want that cell phone!!!11!1″), waay too many people on the streets, you have to fight to get your days off, check to see for a proper and sane way to get home… Rainbows should be shooting out of people’s asses, instead we just get grumpiness and impoliteness. Not the way I want to remember my pre-Christmas. Not to mention some personal issues which happened around Christmas and just left a bitter taste in my mouth.

There’s one thing, though, which I thorougly enjoy. The traditional cookie baking sessions with my friends. Standing in the kitchen for hours, eating bits of the dough and then complaining about your stomache which acts up, cursing because some cookies got burnts, the seemingly endless hours of cleaning up afterwards…

That’s my Christmas spirit. Or what’s left of it.
